Mid-stream, you can switch from a public broadcast to a private show for just the members you choose. They pay a price you set in tokens; everyone else sees a "Private show in progress" screen until you come back.
Starting a private show
- While you're live, open the private show controls in your streamer dashboard.
- Click Start a private show.
- Set the price per member in tokens (whole numbers only) and choose who's in.
- Click Go private.
You can also start one straight from chat — click a member's username in the live chat to invite them into a private show.
What changes when you go private
- Only the members on your list can watch. Everyone else sees a "Private show in progress" screen.
- Chat moves to a private room with just you and your private-show members.
- Your stream keeps running — it's the audience that changes, not the broadcast.
Managing who's in
While private, your panel lists everyone in the show with their status:
- Invited — added, hasn't paid yet.
- Paid — paid the show price and watching.
You can Add members at any time during the show — new members pay the show price to join. You can also remove anyone from the list.
Requests from viewers
Viewers can send a Request private show ask while you're streaming. Pending requests appear in your panel whether you're public or private, and you can accept one to bring that member in. It's a good signal of who's willing to pay — worth glancing at even when you're mid-public-show.
Changing the price
The price per member is editable from the panel while the show is running. It applies to members joining from that point on.
Going back to public
Click Back to public and confirm. Everyone can watch again and chat returns to the public room.
Important: members will need to pay again for a new private show. Going public ends the current show — so don't flip back and forth casually while people are paying.
Requirements
- Private shows work on Cloudflare streams only. If your panel says private shows aren't available, your stream is using a different provider — contact support about switching.
- Members pay with tokens, so make sure your token packages are set up first, or they'll have nothing to pay with. See Earning from chat: paid messages and token packages.
Tips
- Mention during your public stream that private shows are available — most viewers won't know to ask.
- Price it well above a tip. A private show is your time and exclusivity, not a bigger tip.
- Watch the requests list during a public show; accepting one is the easiest sale you'll make all night.
- Tell your public room roughly how long you'll be away, so they don't drop off while you're private.
