Sample photos are the preview images shown publicly on a scene — the teaser a visitor sees before joining, while the rest of the set stays blurred behind your join wall.
There are two ways to control this: hand-pick the exact images for a gallery, or set a site-wide number of photos to reveal by default. Hand-picked samples take priority.
Where to manage them
- Go to Content → Scenes.
- Open the scene's gallery.
- Use the tabs at the top: Photos, Sample Photos, and Suggested.
Picking samples from your photo set
On the Photos tab you'll see the full set attached to the scene.
- Select the images you want as samples.
- Save them — they're added as sample photos and processed in the background.
Images that are already samples are marked "Already a sample" and can't be added twice, so you can work through a big set without losing track.
The Suggested tab
For scenes with video, Suggested offers AI-picked frames from your video, ranked best-first. Each one is checked and labeled when it's classified as safe-for-work, which makes them good candidates for public-facing previews.
Select the ones you like and add them as samples — a fast way to get previews on a video scene that has no photo set at all.
The Sample Photos tab
This is your current sample set, where you can:
- Upload new sample photos — drag and drop, or browse.
- Import from cloud — pull images straight from Dropbox or Google Drive.
- Delete any sample you no longer want.
Samples uploaded here don't have to come from the scene's photo set — you can use any image you like.
Setting how many photos show by default
If you don't hand-pick samples for a gallery, your site automatically shows the first few photos clearly and blurs the rest. You control how many that is:
- Go to Site → Details.
- Open the Photo Galleries tab.
- Set Sample photos per gallery — any whole number from 0 to 50. The default is 6.
- Save.
The first photos in each gallery are shown clearly; everything after that number is blurred. Set it to 0 to blur every photo in galleries you haven't picked samples for.
Hand-picked samples always win. If you've chosen sample photos for a gallery, those are shown instead and this number is ignored for that gallery — so the site-wide setting is your fallback for the galleries you haven't curated.
How many to use
The first images do the most work, so lead with your strongest and don't feel you need to mark dozens. A higher number gives visitors more to look at; a lower one keeps more of the set behind the join wall. If you're unsure, the default of 6 is a reasonable starting point to test against.
Choosing well
- Tease, don't tell. Samples should make someone want the rest of the set, not substitute for it.
- Lead with your best image — it's doing the same job as a thumbnail.
- Mind what's public. These are visible to non-members, so pick images you're comfortable showing on the public side of your site.
- Video scenes benefit too — a few stills from the Suggested tab give a video scene a richer preview.
Other things in the gallery
- Download all photos as ZIP — grab the whole set.
- Remove photo set from this scene — detach the set entirely.
Not seeing your changes?
New samples process in the background, so give them a moment. If they still don't appear on your site, clear your cache and hard-refresh — see Content not showing up on your site? Clear the cache.
